Volunteers Start Here

Thank-you for taking this step of leadership. Youth organizations like ours require volunteers like you. Our association, like so many, operate because individuals step up and into roles to help ensure youth have an opportunity to play.

Completing the Respect in Sport certification program is the first step. Completing this course is a requirement for most youth athletic organizations, including schools, in the province of Saskatchewan. This means you will be able to help out with other sports. Note, there may be a need to apply to have a certain designation transferred from once course of certification to another. The website provides the information for this.

Go to https://www.respectgroupinc.com/respect-in-sport/ to complete your Respect in Sport training.

It is Hockey Saskatchewan's expectation that Respect in Sport for Activity Leaders is renewed every five years. It is not yet required, but it will most likely happen at some point.

Our association's position on the Respect in Sport for Activity Leaders program is one of value. It provides a good overall look into coaching philosophies. This doesn't mean that we dictate any one coaching style as an expectation, but do support the RIS program that allows you to identify, reflect on, and plan your coaching approach according to the coaching style that you express. Our association expects our coaches and volunteers to foster the game of hockey. This is the hard work, but it does allow various avenues to get to that goal.

And again, thank-you!
